If you are a fan of the Mini Cooper, certainly you have been
delighted to learn that the car is now available as a
convertible. Marketed in both base and “S” models, the Mini
Cooper convertible is sure to turn heads as well as helping you
find parking in tight quarters. Please read on to learn what the
makes this cute import a hit.

The best thing that has happened to the Mini Cooper over the
years was its purchase by the German automotive stalwart, BMW in
1994. Indeed, the current Mini Cooper reflects BMW engineering
with a suspension that has been swiped from the BMW 3 series
allowing the car to navigate sharp turns with ease.

Key specs of this model include the following:

# A 1.6 I4 engine powering at 115 hp; you can upgrade to a
souped up version of this same engine that will kick out 168
horses. Still, for a car weighing in at 2300 lbs the low
horsepower should not be much of an issue.

# A 5 speed manual transmission comes standard; a CVT automatic
transmission is optional.

# Four-wheel antilock disc brakes; if you get the “S” model
traction control is thrown in.

# 15″ all-season tires on the base model; 16″ on the “S” model.

# Side airbags for front sitting passengers and head curtain
airbags for front and rear seats.

# Fixed roll bars.

# Air conditioning, power windows/doors/mirrors and a kick butt
sound system are all standard equipment.

# Fun exterior colors including: liquid yellow, hot orange,
chili red, cool blue, purple haze, and five other colors. Buyers
have a choice of three roof colors too: black, dark blue, and
dark green.

In these days of rising fuel prices the Mini is certain to
please with EPA figures of 27/35 for the base model and 26/34
for the souped up engine.

Of course, technical specifications aside the convertible offers
drivers and passengers the opportunity to drop the roof and take
in the wind and the sun. The roof retracts automatically and
stores nicely behind the rear seat without sacrificing already
limited storage space. Factor in the heated glass rear
windscreen and the Mini is ready to go out in all kinds of
weather.

The sticker price of the convertible starts at $21,450; well
equipped models will top out at around $29,000. Compared to all
other convertibles on the market, the price is very competitive.

In all, the Mini Cooper is a fun little car that gets noticed
with or without the top down. Buyers will find the car fun to
drive, economical, and fairly cheap to maintain - full
maintenance is included for the first 3 years/36000 miles -
features that are certain to make the car a “hard find” at your
local dealership.

Like any contraption with wheels, skateboards have bearings too. Although considered a professional sport, manufacturing skateboards and their parts are still largely influenced by street culture. The bearings are the metal inside the wheels that bear all the weight of the person and the skateboard combined but also provide for maximum movability. Good bearings are crucial for a good board.

There are no specific standard rating guidelines for skateboard bearings. By disparate comparison, expert skateboarders estimate the precision of the bearings and know that the good ones fall under 3 or 5, using the ABEC system of rating bearings used in machines. These bearings can give you a smooth ride but at the same time, they are strong enough to bear the brunt when you jump on your board. But not all manufacturers consider the ABEC when producing skateboard bearings. You wouldn’t really know their performance until you try them out yourself.

At the store, you may ask assistance in replacing the bearings on your skateboard. But the procedure is quite easy. There should be no problem if you do it yourself. You will need a skate key. If you don’t have one, a screwdriver will be fine. Next, using the screwdriver, pry out the old bearings from the wheels. Then, grab the new bearing and place it at the end of the skate key or screwdriver. Press the bearing into the wheel with even pressure. Do the same to the other wheel. Now put those on the tracks and you’re done.

Bearings provides detailed information on Bearings, Ball Bearings, Wheel Bearings, Skateboard Bearings and more. Bearings is affiliated with Rebuilt Carburetors.

We Met Online! Stories of Married Catholics Who Met Their Spouses On the Internet by by Anthony J. Buono and Stephen Weisenbach, eds.
As Written Publishing, 1413464653, $21.99

Is Internet “dating” good for the soul? It’s not something I’ve done personally, yet I know people who have tried it, albeit through secular means. One friend’s experience did not end well, another’s will result in her first face-to-face meeting, and eventually marriage. Having volunteered my services to an organization dedicated to preventing cyberstalking, I can tell you the Internet romance machine has malfunctioned at times - “malfunctioned” more appropriate to describing a train wreck than a simple computer virus.

Yet, reading the book WE MET ONLINE!, an anthology of Internet pairing success stories which some may discern more as a grand advertisement for Catholic matching service Ave Maria Singles, a glimmer of hope is injected into the prospect of finding a life mate online — for Catholics, it is a rather strong one, endorsed in the book’s foreword by Father C. John McCloskey III.

“Long-distance relationships can work. They have for centuries,” McCloskey writes. “Obviously the couple will have to move near one another, if not before, then certainly after the wedding. But the beauty of Ave Maria Singles or for that matter old-fashioned letter writing with paper and ink (remember that?) is that it allows the “dating” couple to really explore what matters by exchanging many, many messages over a period of time. This truly allows the “inner you” to be revealed until the moment comes for the face-to-face meeting.” Such words help to dissolve the sometimes negative aura surrounding the Internet, and the twenty-five stories following this foreword affirm that faithful, single Catholics in pursuit of a married vocation can find success in the proper environment.

The testimonials from the now married couples in WE MET ONLINE! evidence a varied membership at AMS. Ages range from early 20s to late 50s, some members are widowed or divorced and awaiting annulment, while others (including a few approaching middle age) have never married. There are members with young children, people with medical conditions, and still others living abroad who were willing to look beyond their home country for a mate (the story of Mairead and Tim is especially evident of the power of love, as one mate is willing to migrate from the US to Australia).

For all the differences among the people represented in WE MET ONLINE!, there is some common ground - all turned to God for help in their search for a spouse, all were directed in some fashion to AMS (whether through Anthony Buono’s appearances on EWTN or ads in Catholic magazines), and all had one thing specifically in mind: marriage to a like-minded, faithful Catholic. WE MET ONLINE! makes it clear that AMS is not a dumping ground for personal ads or casual contact; a goal is set. Reading WE MET ONLINE!, we learn some people had to wait more than two years to reach this goal, yet the end result was well worth the wait.

Is WE MET ONLINE! worth the read, however? For the discouraged Catholic wading through a sea of frogs to find that prince/princess, Buono and Weisenbach’s collection serves as an inspirational tool, that with faith in God and the technology He brings happiness can result. Readers already enjoying the fruits of a happy Catholic marriage, who have no need directly for AMS, may look upon WE MET ONLINE! as a collection of light, romantic vignettes. What would be interesting, for all readers, however, would be a follow-up volume revisiting the same twenty-five couples in five or ten years. As each couple represented in the book has been married three years or less, to see a strong rate of continued success in their marriages would make for an even stronger advertisement for this organization.

There are hundreds of lapel pin companies to choose from. A simple search on the Internet yields multiple hits. It’s important to have an idea of what you want before you begin working with a lapel pin manufacturer. There are several types of pins, but the base of all lapel pins is metal. You can order very inexpensive pins made out of iron with plating, but lapel pins made out of copper are the most durable. A lapel pin manufacturer can plate a pin with gold, silver, bronze or even an antique finish. Once you decide on the basic metal of the pin, then you can move on to the fun part - the colorful design of the lapel pin!

There are different types of pins to choose from, but the most popular type is the “hard enamel” lapel pin. This type of pin allows for an almost unlimited selection of colors. Some lapel pin manufacturers call this cloisonné, but it is not true cloisonné. If your design requires bright colors, consider the hard enamel pin. The true cloisonné pin is limited to only about 100 colors, but these are often the most collectible type of lapel pins. You may also choose lapel pins that are embossed, die struck or etched - careful selection of the design will ultimately make your custom lapel pin unique.

While the company you deal with may be located in the US, most lapel pin manufacturers deal with factories overseas. Be sure to check with the manufacturer to find out how long your order will take and what kind of shipping charges are involved. Always get a quote, and make sure to let the lapel pin manufacturers know what your budget is - they almost certainly have made something similar to what you need. For complex designs, find out if a prototype lapel pin can be created.

If you don’t need a special design, and are looking for something a little simpler you can also order stock lapel pins. These are pins with recognized symbols like flags, smiley faces, states, animals and other designs. Stock lapel pins are usually immediately available and can be purchased in affordable bulk quantities. Stock lapel pins will not incur any set-up or art fees, as the custom lapel pins will. You may also be able to find stock lapel pins at low clearance prices.

Another affordable option is to order wholesale lapel pins. To place a wholesale order, you must have a business license and usually you have to buy a certain amount of lapel pins to qualify for wholesale pricing. Schools and charitable organizations may also qualify, so be sure to ask! The upside of wholesale lapel pins is that you will often receive free artwork, free shipping and other incentives. If you are a business looking to purchase at least 50 units, buying wholesale lapel pins may be the best option for you.

Lapel Pins Info provides detailed information on lapel pins including many lapel pin options such as custom, military, cloisonne, Christian, and patriotic lapel pins. Lapel Pins Info is the sister site of Lanyards Web.

This month the 51 year old strongman set his 103rd Guinness record - he holds 30 current official records - by carrying a person of exactly his own weight in a Fireman’s Carry position for one mile in fifteen minutes.

Previously he has run 50 miles in under 9 hours while juggling three balls; balanced a milk bottle on his head continuously for 81 miles; balanced seventy five 20oz pint glasses on his chin; pogosticked up the 1900 steps of Toronto’s CN Tower; somersaulted the entire 12 1/4 mile length of Paul Revere’s ride in Massachusetts; and stilt-walked 8 kms in just under 40 minutes - to name a few. On the Oprah Winfrey show Ashrita had to be escorted off the show by paramedics after eating the world’s hottest chilli peppers!

Other records set by Ashrita over the past three decades include the fastest mile pushing an orange with his nose, the fastest mile on a pogo stick and the most milk crates ever balanced on anyone’s chin.

Ashrita timed his latest attempt to coincide with Guinness World Records Day. Guinness Records , the keeper of all records wacky and wonderful has been around for 50 years, and has set aside November 9th as a day to celebrate record setting achievements.
On hand to verify Ashrita’s record was Stuart Claxton, head of Guinness’s U.S. research team. “Guinness World Records has a healthy sense of humour, so we’re always interested in it being fun as well. But really we’re looking for things that other people can actually break because as we always say, ‘Records are meant to be broken’ - and that’s what we’re celebrating today,” he said.

Other record attempts also took place around the world to commemorate Guinness Record Day. This month in New York Chad Fell blew a 20 inch bubblegum bubble, setting a record for the largest one without the use of hands. Aaron Studham of Leominster, Massachusetts sported the tallest Mohawk haircut, coming in at a hair-raising 21 inches. Other Guinness Records being attempted included the ‘Longest Non-stop Commercial Flight’, from Hong Kong to London’s Heathrow, and ‘Largest Milkshake’ attempt by a group in Brisbane, Australia.

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team of which Ashrita is a member organises a further annual event in Germany to also commemorate Guinness World Record Day. Called ‘Impossibility Challenger’, the one day occasion attracts participants from all over the world bent on establishing world and personal records in a variety of non-Olympic disciplines. To the athletes and record contenders these feats have become known as ‘Guinnessport’. The term was coined in the seventies to describe the daredevil antics that earned a place in The Guinness Book of World Records, which also happens to be the world’s best-selling book. According to Impossibility Challenger organizers and lovers of Guinnessport, the goal is ‘to overcome human limitations and to challenge the seemingly impossible’.

This year Shobha Tipnis from India became the first woman in the world to inflate a hot-water bottle with her lungs till it burst. Gill Zafar from the neighboring country Pakistan lifted metal plates weighing 55kg with his right ear and held the weight for 12.2 seconds in the air. Shamita Achenbach-Konig set a Guinness Record which pampered the ears - the professional cellist from Vienna played the cello for 24 hours.

Albert Walter, Swiss record holder in the bench press for 2004, set two new world records. He tore up a phone book with 960 pages in 2.8 seconds and broke an 8.5mm thick carpenter’s nail with his bare hands. Rainer Schroder from Germany towed a truck of three tons with his teeth for the Guinness world record distance of 35.8 metres in one minute flat. Milan Roskopf from Slovakia set a world record by juggling three 20lb [9kg] shot puts for 25.6 seconds.

Ashrita Furman, the king of Guinnessport and often the chief draw card, at a recent Impossibility Challenger set not one but three new records. In the space of a few hours he completed one mile of hula-hoop spinning, one mile of lunges [in which the knee had to touch the ground at every step], and standing on a gymnastic ball, balancing three hours and 30 minutes and bettering his own previous record by over an hour.

Guinnesport followers have come to expect the impossible from Furman. He has broken so many records, in so many disciplines, that in 1987 Guinness editor Norris McWhirter presented him with the title ‘Mr. Versatility’ and allowed him a bonus record: the most world records in unrelated categories.

Anke Riedel, director of the new Impossibility-Challenger, remembers an earlier event back in 1990 when Ashrita broke a record for playing the most hopscotch games in 24 hours. At that same event, karate masters sliced blocks of ice, and one daredevil rode a bicycle backwards while playing the violin. The Impossibility-Challenger is nothing if not diverse.

Over the past 25 years, Furman has broken over 103 records in everything from yodeling to land rowing. ‘Ask fans who’s the greatest athlete of all times,’ The Christian Science Monitor once wrote, ‘and you’ll hear a familiar debate over the likes of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth. Ask readers of The Guinness Book of World Records, however, and you’re likely to hear consensus on one name: Ashrita Furman.’

Ashrita visited New Zealand in 2003 when he set a world record by juggling three lead balls underwater at Kelly Tarltons Underwater World for 48 minutes non-stop in a large fish tank. His first attempt was interrupted after 16 minutes when a tiny parrotfish repeatedly bit him on the nose!

Furman attributes all his achievements to a lifelong practice of meditation, which he believes helps in developing intense concentration in the mind, self-belief and will power. He is also quick to credit all his records to his meditation teacher, 74-year-old Sri Chinmoy.

“In my teens I started searching for a deeper meaning to life and studied Eastern philosophy and yoga. I later attended a meditation evening with the Indian master Sri Chinmoy, a meeting which changed the course of my life. Sri Chinmoy radically altered the way I looked at things. His philosophy of self-transcendence, of overcoming your limits and making daily progress spiritually, creatively and physically, using the power of meditation, really thrilled me. However, I was a bit unsure about the physical part in my case due to my lifelong commitment to nerdiness.
But I came to understand that the body is just an instrument of the spirit and, if performed in the right consciousness, physical feats can be just as - or even more - uplifting than meditating in a temple! “

The setting is a tastefully decorated office. “Sally,” a thirty-two year-old entertainment executive, leans back in a comfortable recliner and takes several slow, deep breaths. Her therapist dims the lights then begins speaking to her in a lulling, dulcet tone of voice.

Within a few minutes, it is obvious that Sally is deeply relaxed; in fact, she appears to be asleep. Observing subtle physiological reactions in response to his patter, the therapist completes the induction “five, four, three, two, one, zero, deep sleep.” Sally exhales with almost a sigh, signaling a final release into deep hypnosis. The therapist begins to work.

Hardly the stuff of a Las Vegas stage show, this. There is no cheering audience, no group of willing volunteers eager to have the hypnotist “change” them into human cartoons. The hypnotherapist will spend the next twenty to thirty minutes simply talking to Sally in a quiet, almost conversational voice.

It is a monologue rich with stories, images, and metaphor language designed to match Sally’s personal linguistic learning patterns, and intended to connect directly to her subconscious mind, the source of most human behavior; good and bad, desired and otherwise.

Sally’s reason for seeking hypnotherapy was to overcome an almost paralyzing fear of public speaking that was becoming increasingly detrimental to a very promising career. She also wanted to reduce and control the stress that comes with her job. After only four sessions, she now conducts most presentations with ease and assuredness. Speaking to large audiences is still somewhat intimidating, but given her rapid progress, her fear will likely soon be a mere memory.

At the end of the session Sally ‘awakens’ on cue, feeling refreshed and relaxed. Ask her and she will tell you that beyond the fact that she is successfully conquering her fear, in general she feels significantly better about herself than she did before she began her therapy.

These are common side effects of therapeutic hypnosis improved self-image and confidence, and a profound sense of achievement and empowerment. Not surprisingly, Sally likes the feeling, as do most who experience contemporary hypnotherapy a unique combination of an ancient art with modern behavioral science.

The use of hypnosis as a catalyst for behavioral change and physical healing dates back to the earliest periods of recorded history. From the time of the ancient Indian and Egyptian cultures, hypnotherapy has ebbed and flowed in popularity, sometimes flourishing, sometimes almost disappearing, but always surviving across cultures, geographies, technologies, and time itself.

In the era of modern healthcare over the past hundred years or so, and continuing today hundreds of studies conducted at many of the most prestigious academic and medical institutions around the world have repeatedly and empirically verified the efficacy of hypnotherapy for many clinical situations.

For example, a keyword search for hypnosis or hypnotherapy on the Websites of the American Medical Association, the National Institutes for Health, the American Psychological Association, or the World Health Organization will lead to scores of articles, abstracts, and reports on clinical studies regarding the use of hypnosis in modern medicine and psychotherapy. Hypnosis is utilized in leading institutions like the Mayo Clinic, integrated into the practices of thousands of physicians and psychologists, and practiced by tens of thousands of lay hypnotherapists worldwide, and with good reason.

Hypnotherapy is extremely versatile. It can be applied to great effect across a considerable variety of vocational, avocational, and clinical situations. It helps people eliminate fears and phobias; eradicate bad habits, negative emotions and attitudes; and improve their performance at work, in athletics, or in virtually any other area of their personal, professional, or recreational lives; and often very quickly.

In clinical settings, where lay hypnotherapists must work under the referral and supervision of licensed physicians, hypnotherapy is often an effective adjunct to conventional treatments for a variety of conditions like Obesity, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lupus, Migraine, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Tinnitus, Asthma, Allergies, Warts, HIV, infertility, and even some cancers. Dr. Joan Friedrick, PhD, MA, writing on clinical hypnosis for ABC News Online’s Healthology: “It is estimated that 94 percent of patients benefit from hypnotherapy, even if it is only linked to improved relaxation.”

Hypnotherapy can help patients prepare for and heal faster from dental procedures, surgery, and childbirth. It is used successfully to control chronic pain, and as an adjunct to, and sometimes a replacement for, chemical anesthesia. Many patients also find relief from discomfort associated with harsh treatments like chemo and radiation therapy. Under referral from licensed psychotherapists, hypnotherapists also provide adjunctive treatment for a variety of mental health issues that exceed the scope of vocational/avocational self-improvement. At the same time hypnotherapy still exists in a sort of netherworld between mainstream healthcare and metaphysical quackery, fenced in neatly by myths, fears, and misconceptions around what it is and how it works. These misgivings are most likely born of the fact that most people’s only exposure to hypnosis is through stage shows and bad melodramatic plot devices that may entertain, but also utterly misinform.

Certainly, watching a group of hypnotized stage-show volunteers go through their paces might lead any rational individual to conclude that the subjects’ have indeed lost control of their minds, unequivocally the number one fear regarding hypnosis. After all, who in their right mind would act like that?

The answer lies in the fact that while we can all experience induced hypnosis if we so choose (and we must choose to or we won’t) a small percentage of the population is by nature especially suggestible to the hypnotic state. A trained stage hypnotist spots these types in the audience, then simply picks volunteers from the likely candidates and invites them to the stage.

These natural somnambulists, as they are called, also happen to be the most likely personality types to want to be part of a show but they never lose control of their minds, nor can they (or anyone) be forced to do anything they don’t want to, or wouldn’t normally do.

In fact, hypnotherapy is more than anything else about helping clients increase control over unwanted emotions, behaviors, and issues in their life. So if those folks we see on stage flap their wings and quack like ducks it is because they want to. It takes all kinds after all.

Second only to the fear of losing control is the fear of getting stuck in hypnosis if something incapacitates the hypnotherapist a common ploy in B movies and again absolutely untrue. Should that unfortunate circumstance arise, the hypnotized subject will simply ‘wake up’ and hopefully call 911.

Many people also believe that seeking help to change behaviors or overcome emotional challenges reflects some sort of personal weakness. Ironically, virtually everyone depends on many others to help us live our lives barbers, doctors, dentists, farmers, butchers, mechanics, plumbers, etc. Yet when it comes to mental well-being, perhaps the most important aspect of our lives, many of us shun professional assistance, fearing we’ll be looked upon as weak. We think we should be able to do it ourselves, and that may be a huge misconception.

There are many theories around personality and behavioral development, yet it is generally accepted that most behavioral and emotional patterns are set fairly early in life. Once ingrained, most behavior also becomes largely automatic. We experience a stimulus or trigger and react without conscious thought. So, for most people, trying to change behaviors, emotions, or improve physical performance through the sheer dint of conscious intent or willpower is often, if not always, futile. It has nothing to do with lack of desire, character, or personal weakness. Our minds just don’t work that way.

For instance, asking Sally to will herself out of her fear of public speaking would have been akin to thinking that she had willed herself into it. Upon hearing her name called to speak she certainly didn’t think, “okay heart start racing, palms get sweaty, throat tighten up, voice get squeaky, panic set in.” No it just happened. It was an automatic response. So, how do we change that response?

Hypnosis places the mind in a condition of focused receptivity. Being in hypnosis may feel as benign as simply sitting with one’s eyes closed, or it may feel profoundly trancelike a feeling of very deep relaxation while always completely awake and aware of what’s happening.

Regardless, while we are in hypnosis, it is believed that the inner critic of our conscious mind is held in abeyance, thus giving our unconscious mind a chance to accept suggestions for the changes we wish to effect. In other words, while in hypnosis, we re-teach the unconscious mind to react to given behavioral or emotional triggers in a new and desirable way.

In Sally’s case the subconsciously-generated feelings of fear and anxiety toward public speaking were replaced with feelings of calm and confidence. With reinforcement the new response of calm soon became every bit as automatic as the old response of fear had been. If the process sounds fairly simple, it largely is at least in the hands of an experienced and well trained practitioner. And regardless of the precise mechanism of hypnotherapy, which like most mental health protocols is subject to debate, it works; people get results.

There are of course limitations to the uses and applications for hypnotherapy it is not a magic bullet. Success requires a client’s conscious desire and commitment to change, a willingness to experience the state, and a belief in the possibility for success. Otherwise, hypnotherapy may not work very well, if at all.

Dr. Friedrick also reports in Healthology that, “according to the World Health Organization (WHO), hypnosis should not be performed on patients with psychoses, organic psychiatric conditions, or antisocial personality disorders.” Hypnotherapy is also not considered effective for treating addictions to mind-altering substances like drugs or alcohol, except perhaps when combined with a twelve-step program. Even then its use is probably best limited to building motivation and promoting active participation in the program rather than actually trying to change the addictive behavior.

Finally, it is important to reiterate that for any medically-related or psychogenic conditions, hypnotherapy is an adjunctive therapy; it is not medicine, nor psychotherapy, and using it as such or as a replacement for such is both contraindicated and against the law. There are many beneficial medical and psychological applications, but a lay hypnotherapist must first obtain a written approval/referral from the client’s physician or licensed psychotherapist to legally and ethically work on such cases.

For anyone interested in trying hypnotherapy, finding a good hypnotherapist is much like finding a good physician or psychotherapist it’s wise to do some shopping. For best results an individual must feel comfort and rapport with the therapist and have confidence in the therapist’s abilities, training, and experience.

Since most states have no standards for training, certification, or licensure of hypnotherapists, obtaining this sort of information is important, and a well trained, experienced practitioner should be quite willing to provide a prospective client with credentials and references. This offers consumers some protection from incompetents, false expectations, or illegal practices. If not offered this information it might be prudent to look elsewhere for treatment.

Of course legislation that prescribed standards for the training, certification, and licensure of hypnotherapists would obviously lend further legitimacy to the profession. It would facilitate the acceptance of hypnotherapy by health insurance providers, help rid the profession of incompetents, and help move hypnotherapy even more firmly into the mainstream of modern healthcare. In the opinions of those practicing hypnotherapy as dedicated professionals and the thousands of “Sallys” who literally transform their lives through its help, this powerful combination of ancient art and modern science deserves no less a position in today’s healthcare system.

“Long, I want you to lie here and be perfectly comfortable.” Jerry began the regression, which we were doing in his room on the ground floor.

“Close your eyes and I’ll count back from ten very slowly.” Jerry was reading from the book which I had asked him to do when he put her into the hypnotized state. Each number had a corresponding suggestion but before he got past number eight she started to exhibit the strangest responses in her body. I was amazed and I think Jerry was too. Later he said he had never seen anything like it. In the movie Alien you see the creature moving inside the people. It was like that. Her muscles rippled in gross or enormous ways just as if there was something going up her torso inside. It was very visible even with her shirt on. Jerry could see she was ‘under’ and began the stages backwards up a visualized or imagined elevator going down and stopping occasionally. But again it was so easy for her to go back Jerry had to ask her to stop. She was talking in the trance state and at first she stopped inside the womb where a life was joining her.

“Who is it?” Jerry asked.

“It is my father from a life before this. He was sexually abusive to me and I took my life at age 20. I am dealing with my anger and I have to support this new life. I forgive and nourish.” Long spoke and my memory of her exact words is not exact. We discussed the whole thing for a long time on many occasions after this and I think you will see why.

“Are you ready to get back on the elevator? Is everything settled here?”

“Yes, I love her and forgave him.”

She went back, way back! The next stop had her speaking about another spirit that was her religious leader in a Temple. We later thought this was Egypt. The spirit began talking in another tongue which even Long could not figure out. She spoke a few languages from far flung places in the world and had heard many others as we all had.

“Who is this new spirit?” Jerry and I almost simultaneously asked. Jerry had told me not to speak because it might break her trance but it was clear that was no issue.

“She is the High Priestess and I am her assistant or hand-maiden. She loves me very deeply and she is always near me in the various lives I travel.”

“Describe the surroundings please. What is this religion?”

Jerry was trying to get some familiar landmarks or way to determine where or when this was. It was a lot like Egypt we thought, but when? Maurice spoke Egyptian with me around sometimes and all the other tongues of that region were spoken by many of my accounts in Hollywood. It was not like any of them yet it had some of the sounds that might have become any number of languages there and further north. It was not sing song or clicking with the tongue on the top of the palate. I was excited. Jerry and I looked at each other in amazement.

“Can we go back to when you first lived with this High Priestess? Do you want to go back to the elevator?”

“Sure.” Long responded and easily went further back. Jerry let her stay in the elevator and hoped she would say when she had reached the very first time she had met this person. Later we thought she had gone back at least 30,000 years and she was still going back when Jerry asked her to stop the elevator and see where she was. She now only spoke as the person with a tongue none of us could understand. She seemed so much at peace and so full of wisdom. Her face was almost radiant. But we could not determine any shred of what these sounds were even though they were coherent. It was obviously a language with style and grace. There are tongues which grate on the ear and this was neither like them or the Asian tongues that include chanting almost.

“Get back in the elevator.” Jerry asked. When she was coming back up he looked at me and asked me what we could do.

“I have no idea. We could ask her to stop again but maybe when she is out of trance we can talk about this and then do it again sometime. This is very weird isn’t it?”

“I have read many books on these things and I have a gift for regressions. I have never heard or seen this kind of thing… Long I want you to come back to the present. You will be totally refreshed and remember everything you experienced.” Long began to awaken or come out of the trance but before she came fully out and while her eyes were still closed she said something that altered the course of my life.

“Bob, I love you.” It was her spirit or a union of this spirit and hers. She thought it was this High Priestess when we later talked about it. And you can be sure we never stopped talking about it, even to the last phone conversation which I had with her months after we would never see each other again.

Why worry when you have buildings insurance

Whenever an individual builds his dream home, he makes sure it
has all the amenities that are required to make his life
comfortable. Besides this one more factor that is absolutely
imperative to any home is its safety.

A good insurance policy is what you need to secure your
home against any sort of contingency like fire, theft, flood,
earthquake etc. If you have a mortgage against your
home, then in all likelihood your mortgage lender
will insist that you get buildings insurance.

Are wondering as to why your lender insists on getting a
structure of bricks and mortar insured? Well there is a very
good logic behind it. This is because if you lose your home due
to any disaster like fire or flood and you have an outstanding
mortgage on it, then you may have nothing tangible left with you
to pay it back.

Your home is your biggest asset and it is logical to get an
insurance cover
for it. A household insurance cover includes
both buildings insurance and contents insurance. While
buildings insurance protects your property, its fixtures
such as fitted kitchens and wardrobes against any damage;
contents insurance on the other hand provides cover to your
possessions
like TV, DVDs or other valuables.

If your home has a good buildings insurance cover against
it, then in case the general structure of your home incurs any
damage due to flood, storm, lightning or burglary; your insurance cover will
compensate for your loss.

You must draw out an appropriate level of coverage after
considering the following factors:

The level of cover you need

The amount of money you are ready to spend on it.

The location of your home, whether it is in a high-risk zone or
is in a fairly protected area.

As is the case with other financial products, in order to get a
low premium on your buildings insurance cover it is very
important for you to shop around. You must research and
request for online insurance quotes
before you actually buy
an insurance policy.

The web is crowded with webmasters who have always wanted to hire a ghost writer but have never had the good fortune of finding one.

Part of the reason is that most of them have not been sure of exactly what they have wanted in a good ghost writer. Many have simply wanted a good ghost writer to generate plenty of content for their sites without realizing the fact that SEO skills are critical and in many instances much more important than any other skills a content provider is able to boast of.

The lucky webmasters already competent and skilled in SEO and keyword phrase selection have been able to strike excellent partnerships with ghost writers who have good writing skills. The only problem with this kind of arrangement is that it is time consuming for many a webmaster who is already extremely busy running and maintaining their site on a day to day basis.

It therefore makes a lot of sense to get a ghost writer who is not only a skilled writer but one who also has SEO skills that will enable their content to get any site owner the loads of traffic they have always wanted.

One of the ways webmasters are able to get the sort of good ghost writer that they have always wanted is through referrals from satisfied clients. Another method is by using search engines. Any ghost writer with the sort of SEO skills to get their own site at the top of search engine results is good enough to do the same for a client and produce the wanted results.

Understanding what your visitors do on your site is crucial information. If your visitors proceed to purchase a product but then a large majority leaves the site when they get to a specific page in the order process, you need to know about it. It could be that this page is confusing or hard to use. Fixing it could increase your sales by 200%. This is just an example; there are many reasons why you want a detailed analysis of your site visitors.

Most website hosting services offer a stats package that you can study. If you’re not sure where this is, call up your hosting service and ask them. Statistics are a vital part of tracking your marketing progress. If you don’t have access to website statistics get a package that can help you in this area. Do not get a counter that simply shows how many visitors you’ve had. You’ll be missing out on vital information that can help strengthen weaknesses in your site.

A good website hosting service offers traffic logs that provide an invaluable insight into the traffic being referred to a web site from various sources such as search engines, directories and other links.

Unfortunately traffic tracking provided by web hosting services is often in the form of raw traffic log files or other difficult to understand cryptic formats. These log files are basically text files that describe actions on the site. It is literally impossible to use the raw log files to understand what your visitors are doing. If you do not have the patience to go through these huge traffic logs, opting for a traffic-logging package would be a good idea.

Basically, two options are available to you and these are: using a log analysis package or subscribing to a remotely hosted traffic logging service. A remotely hosted traffic logging service may be easy to use and is generally the cheaper option of the two. WebTrends Live and HitsLink are two good, remotely hosted, traffic-monitoring services worth considering. However, WebTrends Live is a more complicated system and is suitable for larger ecommerce websites. “SuperStats” is another recommended traffic logging service.

These services do not use your log files. Typically a small section of code is placed on any page you want to track. When the page is viewed, information is stored on the remote server and available in real time to view in charts and tables form.

Log analysis packages are typically expensive to buy and complex to set up. Apart from commercial packages there are also some free log analysis packages available, such as Analog.

A good traffic logging service would provide statistics pertaining to the following:

1 How many people visit your site?
2 Where are they from?
3 How are visitors finding your site?
4 What traffic is coming from search engines, links from other sites, and other sources?
5 What keyword search phrases are they using to find your site?
6 What pages are frequented the most - what information are visitors most interested in?
7 How do visitors navigate within your web site?

Knowing the answers to these and other fundamental questions is essential for making informed decisions that maximize the return on investment (ROI) of your web site investment.

The most important aspect of tracking visitors to your website is analyzing all the statistics you get from your tracking software. The three main statistics that will show your overall progress are hits, visitors and page views. Hits are tracked when any picture or page loads from your server on to a visitor’s browser. Hits, however, can be very misleading. It is quite an irrelevant statistic for your website.

The statistic that is probably the most important for a website is Page Views/Visitors. This gives you a good indication of two things. First, how many people are coming to your site, and secondly how long are they staying on your site. If you have 250 visitors and 300 page views you can figure that most visitors view one page on your site and then leave. Generally, if you’re not getting 2 page views per visitor then you should consider upgrading your site’s content so your visitors will stay around longer.

If you see the number of visitors you have increasing as well as the number of page views per visitor increasing then keep up the good work! Always look for this stat as an overall barometer of how your site design is going and if your marketing campaigns are taking hold.
Also, a good stat to look for is unique visitors. Once a person visits your site they will not be added to the unique visitors’ category if they visit again. This is a good way to track new visitors to your website.

Page views are a good indication of how “sticky” your website is. A good statistic to keep is Page Views divided by the number of Visitors you have. This statistic will give you a good idea if your content is interesting and if your visitors are staying on your site for a long time and surfing.

Some people are intimidated by web traffic statistics (mostly because of the sheer volume of data available), but they shouldn’t be. While there are many highly specialized statistics that can be used for more in-depth web traffic analysis, the above areas alone can provide invaluable information on your visitors and your website performance. Remember- this data is available for a reason. It’s up to you to use it.
